King Smith Utall (1917-1944) served as a lieutenant in Company A, 53rd Battalion of the US Army at Camp Wolters, Texas. He graduated from officer candidate training at the top of his class and served as a trainer in Camp Wolters, Texas until his accidental death on May 19, 1944. Contains a pamphlet prepared for King's funeral service, which includes letters written by Udall to his family during the war, letters of condolence to his parents from Presidents George Albert Smith, Spencer W. Kimball and David O. McKay as well as comments from his commanding officers, army comrades, and family friends. Also contains a copy of a sermon Udall gave as a missionary in South Africa before the war.
